Veneers

One of the best ways to get a new, dazzling smile is with dental veneers. Veneers are a cosmetic treatment that can actually change the shape of your front teeth, fill gaps and give you a beautiful smile. The color of your teeth can be changed too if you choose veneers in a brighter, whiter shade than your teeth are now.

Porcelain Veneers Process

The process of getting veneers involves two dental appointments to our office. At the first visit, your teeth are prepped for the veneers and an impression of them is taken. The impression is sent to the lab where your veneers will be made. Your teeth will have a small amount of their surface removed so the veneers can be affixed to them. Veneers cover the front of your teeth and wrap slightly around the sides. In a few weeks when your veneers are ready, you will return to the office to have them placed.

Benefits of Dental Veneers

Porcelain veneers can do much more for your smile than just whitening can. Veneers can change the shape of your teeth, close gaps and cracks and fix discoloration. The process is much less invasive than getting full crowns. If your teeth are healthy and you just want them to look better, veneers could be the right option.

Caring for Your Porcelain Veneers

Dental veneers can last for years, but they are delicate, and care should be taken to keep them in good shape. Veneers are not placed on posterior (back) teeth because these teeth do most of the work when you chew. You can eat normally with veneers on your front teeth, but be careful when biting into hard food like apples or corn on the cob.

When you brush your teeth, use a soft bristled brush and gentle toothpaste. Brush and floss normally every day. Make regular appointments for checkups office to make sure your  veneers and the rest of your teeth are in good condition.
