While dental implants are a popular method of repairing your smile when teeth are missing, this is not always an option for everyone. Not everyone is a candidate for implants, and for some, the cost may be out of their reach. Complete and partial dentures are an ideal alternative.
Partial dentures are used when at least one tooth or more are still viable. The partial will be built around that tooth or teeth.
Complete dentures are used when there are no viable teeth left. For those requiring complete dentures, a pre-measured immediate denture will be worn during the healing period. This allows the wearer to still have the use of teeth while the conventional denture is being created. During the healing period, bones and gums do adjust in size so that the immediate denture may require adjustments.
The development and creation of a denture takes a few weeks and several appointments. During these appointments our dentist will make impressions and take measurements of the space between your jaw. This helps to create dentures that will fit comfortably to the contours of your mouth.
Several versions of the dentures will be made from materials such as wax and plastic to check the fit, color, and shape before the actual denture is made. This is to ensures your final denture will be a perfect, comfortable fit designed just for you.
Caring for your dentures is different than taking care of teeth so it may take a bit of practice. Instead of brushing your teeth, you will be cleaning and soaking your dentures to ensure they stay sanitary and look nice. If you have any questions about how to take care of your dentures, we are more than happy to help.
When looking for dentures, our office has many options. Our team will ensure your dentures are customized to your exact measurements and will happily guide you through the entire process.
